A 2012 competition proposal for the reuse of the controversial Futenma military airbase in Okinawa. The proposal envisions restoring villages destroyed to construct the airbase, reusing hangars and other postwar military structures as cultural facilities, reintroducing agriculture, and environmental remediation. Runways are inverted to form an underground memorial crypt.
