This is a prizewinning entry for the Shinkenchiku Residential Design Competition in 1988. It proposes temporarily occupying vacant urban sites by digging and pouring simple foundation structures upon which prefabricated structural modules can be freely arranged. Brick walls provide a sense of permanence and can be left behind as ruins.
